PHOENIX  — The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), part of City of Hope, today announced that distinguished professor Daniel D. Von Hoff, M.D., F.A.C.P., has been named to the 2023 Highly Cited Researchers list by Clarivate. The annual list recognizes influential researchers at universities, research institutes and commercial organizations around the world who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their field of research.

Analysts at the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) have recognized 6,849 Highly Cited Researchers in 2023, from more than 1,300 institutions in 67 nations and regions. The selection process draws on data from the Web of Science citation index, together with analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the ISI at Clarivate. Von Hoff was among the recipients in the cross-field category – those who contribute multiple Highly Cited Papers in several different fields.

“We celebrate the Highly Cited Researchers whose contributions transform our world by helping to make it healthier, more sustainable and more secure. Recognition of Highly Cited Researchers not only validates research excellence but also enhances reputation, fosters collaboration, and informs resource allocation, acting as a beacon for academic institutions and commercial organizations,” said Bar Veinstein, President of Academia & Government at Clarivate.

Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science over the past decade. Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers are 1 in 1,000.
