Wendy’s® franchisee’s Jr. Frosty® fundraiser benefits TGen cancer research
Fundraising starts today at nearly 200 Wendy’s in 10 states, including more than 60 locations across Arizona
PHOENIX, Ariz. — April 4, 2022 — Starting today, select Wendy’s restaurants, including more than 60 in the Phoenix and Tucson areas, will begin their annual fundraiser through the sales of their coupon sheets good for 5 Jr. Frosty treats for a $1 donation, with all proceeds supporting colon cancer research at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), an affiliate of City of Hope.
From April 4 through May 29, you can put the freeze on cancer by purchasing a Jr. Frosty coupon sheet at over 180 select Wendy’s locations in 10 states, while supplies last.
Each Jr. Frosty sheet contains coupons for 5 free Jr. Frosty treats!
The fundraiser was established in 2007 by Wendy’s franchise owner Rick Holland, who is a proud supporter of TGen. To date, his Jr. Frosty fundraising efforts at his 184 Wendy’s stores have raised more than $1.5 million for TGen cancer research.
“Colon cancer affects the health and lives of too many, including the patient’s entire network of family and friends,” says Rick Holland, “and that is why it is rewarding to see our generous and caring customers come together in support of this promotion. The funds they help us raise directly support advances and breakthroughs against this deadly disease.”
Funds raised through the Jr. Frosty sales are donated to TGen in conjunction with the Bernice E. Holland Foundation, which Rick Holland founded after his mother passed away from colon cancer. The Bernice E. Holland Foundation hosts an annual golf tournament, auction, and silent auction, also benefiting TGen cancer research.
“Cancer research needs passionate advocates like Rick,” says Erin Massey, Chief Development Officer of the TGen Foundation. “We’re grateful to Rick, and his entire Wendy’s team, especially the frontline sales associates who are pivotal to the success of this program. Rick understands first-hand the importance of early detection and better treatments for complex diseases like colon cancer.”
