Kristi was 26 when she died in June of 1993. In those 26 years she accomplished a great deal and brought joy to those who knew her. Kristi attended Xavier High School where she was President of the Student Body. She graduated with honors from Denison Univ ersity in 1988, where she was active in campus politics and athletics.

In 1990 she was working in sales for IBM in their Manhattan office when she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. During the next three years she went through periods where she was thought to be cancer free, only to have the cancer return. She was treated by outstanding physicians at some of the world's most renowned cancer centers.

She married Greg Garrett in November of 1992, but even this storybook romance could not save her from the ultimate toll of metastatic melanoma.

It is our hope, belief and prayer that the Kristin Hornaday Fund for Melanoma Research will help make it possible for future melanoma patients to be cured of the disease.
