Jack Mitchell was born in Albany, Georgia on February 16, 1956 where he lived his entire life. He worked in the Blood Bank for 30 years as a Medical Technologist. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and excelled at fishing, hunting, and many other outdoor activities. Jack lived with his wife Dona, on his "little slice of heaven"; a beautiful area of woodlands. He and his friends loved hunting and he had many trophies of deer and other animals. He loved to sit and watch the animals from the windows of his home.

Jack was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Cancer in October of 2006 and for the next 2 years endured many surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He never gave up and leaned on the Lord for his strength and allowed Him to fulfill His will in his life. He never let discouragement or anger cloud his life, his relationship with God, or his relationship with his family. He was a true living testimony of God's love. He allowed others to see God at work in Him, and even though many prayed for a physical healing, in the end God took him home to be with Him.

Surrounded by his loving family and friends, Jack passed on to a more perfect existence on September 12, 2008. Jack was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be truly missed by all, none more than by his loving wife and family. We know that he left this world to walk into the outstretched arms of Jesus.
