Helen M. Rea (Meinert), age 78, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017 in Bryan, Texas, after a courageous 8-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. By her side was her devoted husband of 38 years, Curtis Garlon Rea Jr. She was born on September 28, 1938 in Plainfield, NJ. and was the daughter of Richard N. and Violet (Peg) Meinert.

Helen grew up in New Jersey and attended college in Oklahoma, but spent her adult years in Houston, where she retired from Texaco. After retirement, she lived in Prescott, Ariz., where she enjoyed her family, friends, traveling and mountainous views.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Garlon Rea Jr. of Brenham, Texas; her brother, Richard N. Meinert Jr. of Alexander City, Ala.; her daughter, Mary Catherine Gregor of Katy, Texas; and her son, Myron Cabot Oglesby Jr. of Gilbert, Ariz.  She was very proud of her 3 grandchildren, and her 3 great grandchildren.

The family would like to continue Helen's fight against Alzheimer's by asking that donations be made to Translational Genomics Research institute (TGen) Foundation in support of research into Alzheimer's disease. Please indicate your gift of donation in the memory of Helen M. Rea.
