TGen respects your personal privacy and is committed to protecting it through responsible information practices. It is not necessary to reveal your identity or any Personal Information to visit TGen’s website, however this Privacy Notice describes TGen’s practices with respect to the collection, use, and disclosure of information, which may include Personal Information, through TGen’s website.   

Personal Information Defined 

For purposes of this Privacy Notice, “Personal Information” means any information directly associated with a specific person, or that reasonably can be used to identify a specific person.  Personal Information does not include “aggregated information,” which is information collected about a group or category of people. It also does not include “de-identified information,” which is information from which details been removed that can be used to identify a specific person. This Privacy Notice does not apply to TGen’s collection, use, or disclosure of aggregated or de-identified information. 

Automated Information Collection and Use 

When you visit TGen’s website, cookies and other website analytical applications, automatically capture certain information about your visit: 

  • The domain name or IP address from which you access the Internet, and the date and time you access TGen’s website;
  • The Internet address of the website from which you reached TGen’s website through a direct link; and

TGen provides a number of online applications for various programs and processes. When used, these programs and processes may ask for information, such as Personal Information including, but not limited to, names, addresses, email, phone and fax numbers. TGen uses this information to process the request and may incorporate the information into TGen's computer systems and electronic databases. Email inquiries may also be stored so that TGen can respond electronically. 

For donations to the TGen Foundation through the TGen website, you may also be asked to provide additional Personal Information for payment purposes, such as credit or debit card information.  TGen does not store credit or debit card information, and uses a third party payment processor (Blackbaud) for all payments, whose use of your Personal Information is governed by their own privacy policy. TGen makes extensive use of technologies and techniques to help protect the integrity of the Personal Information you provide to TGen via the Internet.  Additionally, TGen does not share your information with third parties without your authorization unless required by law or regulation as part of a legal process, or as part of a corporate transaction, for example a change in ownership of TGen.  However, you should be aware that information submitted using Internet-based applications is not secure, and a third party can intercept any information included in an email message or an unencrypted form. Unless otherwise required by statute, TGen does not identify publicly any information that you submit.

TGen’s website and its content are not directed at children under the age of 13, and outside of the registration process conducted by guardians for specific studies, TGen does not intend to or knowingly collect or solicit information, including Personal Information, online about or from children under the age of 13. TGen encourages parents and guardians to participate in and monitor their children’s online activity. If a child under 13 has provided information, including Personal Information, to TGen, the children’s parent or guardian are encouraged to contact TGen to request that the information be removed from TGen systems. Automated information collected by TGen’s website and Personal Information voluntarily provided by a visitor to TGen through TGen’s website is not accessible by the visitor for review, modification, or removal after the website visit or submission.  Information submitted or documents shared through third party applications used by TGen may be available for subsequent review through the third party application.
