Wendy’s puts the freeze on cancer with Jr. Frosty
$1 donation for 5 free Jr. Frosty coupons adds dollars for TGen cancer research; $1 million raised in 10 years
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Feb. 23, 2017 - Starting March 6 and through the end of April, you can give cancer the cold shoulder and get 5 free Jr. Frosty coupons, just by donating $1 at participating Wendy's restaurants while supplies last.
The funds raised through the coupon sales are donated to the Phoenix-based, Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), to use for their efforts in turning new laboratory discoveries into better therapeutics that are benefiting today's cancer patients.
This fundraiser is a combined effort of nine Wendy's franchise groups in eight states who are proud supporters of TGen. Their 2017 goal is to raise $165,000 through these coupons. In the past decade, Wendy's has contributed more than $1 million to cancer research through the Bernice E. Holland Foundation (BEH).
The BEH Foundation was established in 1999 by Wendy's restaurant operator, Rick Holland, in memory of his mother who succumbed to cancer. The foundation also hosts an annual Golf Tournament and Auction (June 11-12, 2017). Last year's tournament raised nearly $200,000.
"I can think of no more dynamic cancer-fighting organization than TGen," Rick Holland said. "TGen is aligned to provide the latest diagnostic and therapeutic tools to their affiliated doctors and hospitals and we are excited to assist with those efforts."
