Cycle for the Cure: Join TGen's 4th annual heart-pumping cancer research event on May 4
200 indoor cyclists sought to support TGen research — Register today!
SCOTTSDALE AND PHOENIX, Ariz. - March 25, 2014
- Four gyms - with four different start times - will host
the 4th annual Cycle for the Cure, benefitting cancer research at
the non-profit Translational Genomics Research Institute
(TGen).
Cycle for the Cure is a heart-pumping, 2-hour indoor cycling
fundraiser. Planned times and places on May 4 are:
• 8-10 a.m. - Gainey Village Health Club &
Spa, 7477 E. Doubletree Ranch Road, Scottsdale.
• 10 a.m.-noon - DC Ranch Village Health Club
& Spa, 18501 N. Thompson Peak Parkway, Scottsdale.
• 1-3 p.m. - Studio 360, 3627 E. Indian School
Road, Phoenix.
• 3-5 p.m. - Camelback Village Racquet &
Health Club, 4444 E. Camelback Road, Phoenix.
"This year, with four different start times, it won't matter what
other plans you might have that Sunday. If you have commitments in
the morning, you can cycle in the afternoon. If you plan to go
shopping or have family activities later that day, you can cycle in
the morning," said event Co-Chair Vicki Vaughn.
More than 200 men and women are expected to participate, aiming to
raise $125,000 for TGen cancer research. Cyclists of all skill
levels are invited. Cyclists do not need to be members of the
clubs. Bikes can be reserved with a $200 tax-deductible donation at
www.tgenfoundation.org/cycle.
Again this year, the Camelback Village Racquet & Health Club,
4444 E. Camelback Road in Phoenix, will host a Post-Ride Party with
the Nate Nathan Band, food and drinks, starting at 5 p.m. The party
is free for riders; $20 donation for guests.
"Because our spin instructors are some of the best and most
dedicated in the business, participants will be treated to a
fast-paced two hours of upbeat music and positive energy with other
riders, prizes, and best of all, the feeling that the dollars they
helped raise stay right here in Arizona, where TGen can really make
a difference for all of our families and friends," said Robyn
DeBell, the event's other Co-Chair.
Dr. Jeffrey Trent, TGen President and Research Director, will be
among TGen's renowned scientists riding and available to explain
their important work.
In medicine, one size does not fit all. TGen's focus on developing
and delivering precision medicine enables physicians to deliver
care more effectively and efficiently. Using genomic sequencing,
TGen helps doctors match the appropriate therapy to each patient's
DNA profile, producing the greatest patient benefit.
"It is so exciting to see this incredible group of dedicated
volunteers join TGen scientists to raise awareness and much needed
funding for TGen's research," said TGen Foundation President
Michael Bassoff. "Cycle for the Curehelps deliver hope and
answers for patients and their families who need TGen's help
today."
