Friends of Encanto Park plant 70 trees in honor of Dr. Daniel D. Von Hoff's 70th birthday.
The legacy of Dr. Daniel Von Hoff continues to grow!
The TGen Distinguished Professor and Physician-In-Chief will be honored with a living tribute of 70 Red Push Pistache trees planted in Encanto Park to celebrate his 70th birthday.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3 in the Garden of Dreams, just north of the parking lot off Encanto Boulevard and east of 15th Avenue in Phoenix.
“Phoenix’s residents and visitors will forever benefit from the growing tree canopy, just as future generations will benefit from Dr. Von Hoff’s brilliant medical legacy,” said Kelly Larabee Morlan, President of Friends of Encanto Park, a non-profit neighborhood organization that raised more than $7,000 for this unique tribute.
The impressive tree planting and a brick memorial with the names of donors who are honoring Dr. Von Hoff’s pioneering contributions was made possible by a team from City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation at the request of Dr. Derek Cridebring, Director of TGen’s Molecular Medicine Division, and Ms. Morlan.
“We proudly recognize Dr. Von Hoff’s legacy of breakthroughs in pancreatic cancer and clinical trials research,” said Dr. Cridebring. “May this gift in Dr. Von Hoff’s honor inspire the Phoenix community as his work propels the people, scientists and physicians fighting cancer.”The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public. All are invited to attend.
