Eligibility

At the time of participation in the program, a high school student must:
  1. be enrolled in an Arizona accredited high school and be a permanent resident of Arizona
  2. be at least 16 years old
  3. be a US citizen or permanent resident

At the time of participation in the program, an undergraduate or graduate or medical student must:

  1. be enrolled as a full time student at an accredited AZ college or university OR a graduate of an AZ high school attending an accredited academic institution out of state
  2. be a US citizen or permanent resident or have an FI sponsored visa

There is a two-year limit for Helios Scholars. Applicants interested in returning for a second summer are required to answer an additional question on the application. They also must have three recommendations, one of which is their former TGen mentor. This is a competitive process as there are a limited number of positions for returning interns available.

“Overall it was one of the most valuable experiences I could have access to in high school. The level expected of interns is high, and consistently presents a challenge. This easily transcends into my daily life with academic and athletic expectations.” (Intern, 2006)
