Academic Year Internships

A limited number of volunteer positions are available during the academic year, based on the needs and projected workload of the host laboratory.

All TGen internships are prearranged and structured with specific start and end dates. The internship experience must be relevant to the intern's academic and professional goals, and fit within the framework of TGen's research objectives and mission. All internships are performed under the supervision of TGen personnel.

Subject to availability, internships may also be available in the following TGen administrative departments:

Communications, IT, Education & Outreach, Business Development and Regulatory Affairs.

Eligibility
Internships are open to qualified high school, undergraduate and Graduate/medical students, who are currently enrolled full-time in a degree granting institution, or those individuals who have graduated from a degree granting institution in the last six months and have been accepted into and will begin a degree-granting (undergraduate or post-graduate) program within six months.

Special note about high school internships: in order for an intern to have a rewarding and worthwhile experience, it is generally expected that students spend at least 15-20 hrs/week in the laboratory. Because high school students have such demanding and structured schedules, it is difficult for them to commit the amount of time needed. Thus, internships for high school students are extremely rare and will depend on the mentor's availability. High school students should be preparing however for TGen's Summer Internship Program.

Selection
All applications are received on a rotating basis. Research faculty have access to applications and letters of reference at all times. If the lab has an opening, they will contact the student directly for an interview and to discuss scheduling options.
